Aidan

Hi, I’m Aidan! I’m currently a senior in the Computer Science college at Ignite, but I spent my freshman and sophomore years in the Design college. My home high school is Dixie Heights. It took me a while to figure out what I want to do after high school, but I’m currently aiming for a career as a librarian or archivist. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, drawing, watching cartoons, and baking bread. I’d say my favorite book series is probably either Percy Jackson and the Olympians or The Spiderwick Chronicles and my favorite cartoon is Disney’s 2017 DuckTales reboot. I also love music! I was in my school’s chorus from fourth grade all throughout middle school and this fall and winter I will be a part of the Cincinnati Youth Choir! I am excited for the opportunities and experience this internship will provide.

Haleigh
Hey! My name is Haleigh, I am currently attending Ignite Institute in the college of Education. Soon I will be attending Eastern Kentucky University to work on a psychology major. I plan to graduate college with the certification to be a high school psychologist and work inside of a school building. Aside from school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, watching classic movies, playing guitar, and shopping. Typically, I surround myself with all sorts of music, whether it’s having my headphones in, driving with the radio turned up, or singing/playing it myself, I use music as a way to distract and calm my mind. Some of my favorite artists are the Plain White T’s, AC/DC, Frank Ocean, Arctic Monkeys, Pink, Tonic, and many more. Aside from music, I have a strong passion for working with animals. In my free time I absolutely love to travel, and some of my dream places to go are Brazil, Italy, and Paris. I am very excited to continue working in the NKY Makerspace, and I cannot wait to see what opportunities this brings!

Elena

Hi, my name’s Elena. I’m a senior in the Design college at Ignite, Cooper is my home school, and I really, really dislike pictures of myself. One day, I think I’d like to draw comics, but just as a hobby. At home, I really enjoy playing the guitar and it’s something I’ve done for years. Next, I think I’ll try playing the drums or some sort of brass/woodwind instrument. Getting better at piano and music theory is another goal of mine. I’ve got two old dogs (Rocko and Prince) and a cat named Pigeon. I like to read, but I can’t say I have a favorite book.

ABBY
My name is Abby and I’m a senior in the design college and I’m from Scott high school. If I could design anything I would want to design my own makeup company. I've always had an interest in makeup and think it could be fun to design my own brand with different formulas. I have a pet cat and her name is tiny. She is so sweet and pretty and I love her so so much! In my free time, I shoot competitive archery and have gone to state, nationals, and world championships. My favorite movie is IT primarily because I love Stephen King. I love the horror movie genre overall but IT has to be my favorite movie overall.

ALEX
Hello, I am Alex. I am a senior at Dixie Heights high school. I am in the computer science college at Ignite. If I could create any app, it would be something to help people with anxiety and depression. The app would have all the phone numbers to help, like the suicide prevention hotline and more. I would also want the app to have information on depression and anxiety and people who have tics to learn more information and techniques to help deal with those mental illnesses. I love to bake and sing during my free time. My hero is honestly my mom. She is such a hard worker, and even if she is having a bad day, she does what she can to make it better and is always there for the people she loves and cares about. I have two dogs and five cats, and they are all super sweet and energetic, and I love having them around.

ISABELLA
Hello, my name is Isabella. I am a senior in the Computer Science college at Ignite Institute, but my home high school is Scott. If I could program anything it would be a top down story-driven puzzle game. I would program this game because I like solving and creating puzzles, and having someone have fun while solving it is an experience like no other. My hobbies are drawing, listening to music, and playing video games. I have two pets, my cat Charlie and my dog Jax. Charlie is a 2 year-old short haired tabby cat that likes to be outside exploring, and Jax is a 3 year-old Maltese-poodle mix that loves his playmate like no other. My favorite movie is Ratatouille.

NOVA
Hello! My name is Nova, I'm a senior at Scott High school, and an Engineering student at Ignite Institute. Someday, I would like to invent a self-sustaining home/facility to help my community and anyone in need of shelter or resources like electricity or water. I'd love to have a career designing and building these facilities. My favorite part of Interning at the Makerspace is being able to reach out to the community and to learn new skills that could help make my dream a reality. I love to draw and paint; I am very inspired by my favorite Author and Illustrator Roald Dahl. I love the settings and adventures in his books, my favorites are "James and the Giant Peach" and "Fantastic Mr. Fox."

PATRINA
Hi! My name is Patrina. I'm a senior from Dixie Heights High School in the Engineering college at Ignite. I chose engineering because of its expansive applications and uses. For one of my yearly projects, I designed a solution to glasses fogging up. I brainstormed with a partner and even made a prototype! My favorite part about working in the makerspace is the teamwork and collaboration. We brainstorm, formulate a plan, and make it a reality. If I could go anywhere in the world for a week I would go to France. It's got beautiful architecture and timeless cities
Picture
SKYLAR
Hi, my name is Skylar and I am from the college of Design. I am a senior and my home school is Dixie. If I could design anything I wanted, I would want to design video games. I would want to design this because I am really into video games and I have always wanted to know how the designing in one would work. I have 5 pets, I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a crested gecko. I want to be a dog groomer and I love animals more than anything. My favorite part of my internship is getting to meet new people and learning so many new and interesting things.
Picture
SHARI
Hello, my name is Shariqa. I am a senior at Dixie Heights High School, and I am also in the Engineering college at the Ignite Institute. If I had a chance, I would invent water repellent lenses for glasses. I want to invent this because when it rains, the glasses get wet which makes it hard to see when you are walking somewhere or riding a bike. If I could spend a week anywhere in the world, I would go to Greece because it has great beaches and it's a beautiful place to visit. My favorite book series is the Diary of a Wimpy Kid.  Some of my hobbies are riding my bicycle, doing puzzles, watching soccer on T.V, and playing board games and video games with my little brother.
Picture
TEDDY
My name is Teddy, and I am currently a senior at Ignite Institute. I am also enrolled at Dixie Heights High School where I participate in extracurricular activities. At Ignite, I was originally a student in the Biomedical Sciences college where I developed the idea for a portable platelet counter to help with specific blood related syndromes such as a syndrome my younger brother faced called Jacobsen Syndrome. While Biomed assessed the human body and its processes, I am much more interested in psychology. I am hoping to follow a new career path in education and mental health where I can express myself more creatively while still helping others. My current dream job would be to work as a high school Math or English teacher and eventually get certified in guidance counseling. Outside of school, my hobbies include art, cooking, baking, archery, and video games. I also like to explore new hobbies that are interesting. This is my favorite part about the Makerspace because we learn and participate in various activities that are from different STEM related subjects. Even though these activities are very different in nature, they all require creativity, innovation, and real-world application. It is a great place for expressing yourself while also trying to make a difference.

JORDAN
Hi, my name is Jordan. I am a senior at Cooper High School, but I am in the computer science college at Ignite Institute. If I were to create a game, I would make a game about Life. Why? I would make this game to help people get through life and get through the real world. I would make this game fun and enjoyable while also conveying a good life message and how to manage your life and savings. I choose computer science because I wanted to make games. I came to Ignite to see if I wanted to pursue this as my career in the future. My dream job is to become an anchor for the news. What I like best about this internship is the people I work with. The people around me help me grow not only as an Individual but as a person. I feel like it is best for me personally for helping this community as well.

EMMA
Hello, my name is Emma. I am a senior at Dixie Heights High School, and I am also in the Computer Science college at the Ignite Institute. If I had the chance, I would want to create an app to help diagnose cancer in its early stages and help them keep up with treatment plans. I would create this app to help people with this awful disease because if it is diagnosed early enough it can be easier to treat. My hero is my aunt Stephiane who died from stage four breast cancer because she fought and never gave up. She is my hero because when we walked a 5k for breast cancer she was tried but when a police officer asked her if she wanted a ride to the finish line, she said no I started this and I want to finish it. She went through so many treatments for cancer and kept fighting for her and her family. My hobbies outside of computer science are tennis and reading.

JONATHAN
My name is Jonathan, and I am a Senior at Scott High School and a 4th year in the Computer Science College at Ignite Institute. I also have a Yorkie Poo Chihuahua mix named Fireball. Shortly after I got my red Nintendo DS Lite for my 6th birthday, I knew I wanted to at least playtest Nintendo games when I grew up, if not make them for a living which is my dream job. Then, when I found out about the Informatics Academy at KCAIT, the predecessor to the CS College at Ignite, I was hooked by the idea of learning how to make games and applied ASAP. Fast forward to last year, when I was brainstorming for an idea for my year-long project, and I came up with the idea for a game that I now want to thoroughly develop into a finalized project given the chance. This game is a Zelda-like Role Playing Game, where the main weapon is a rocket launcher (aka an RPG) that is swung like a sword, and would be titled "Rocket Propelled Game", which hasn't been taken. I really want to make this because I enjoy turning my ideas into things others can play and enjoy.

AMAYA
Hi, my name is Amaya. I am a senior at Conner High School, and I am in Design College at Ignite Institute. I think if I could design something it would be stuffed animals because I have always loved them when I was a kid and I still do but with stuffed animals, for some people, it helps them during tough times, and they are comforting to hug. When I was in Japan, I picked out a couple of stuffed animals to take home, but they were not big because of the weight limit on the plane back. If I could go anywhere it would be going back to Japan because there was so much stuff, I wanted to do but did not get to do.  I think one of my favorites movies in the world would be Love, Simon. I think my hero would be Harley Quinn and yes, I know she is a villain, but she is one of my favorites of all time. When looking at Harley Quinn, most people would see that she is just a villain, but she is more than that.

CIERA
Hello, my name is Ciera. I am a senior at Simon Kenton High School, but I am also in the Engineering College at the Ignite Institute. When I was little, I would work on cars and build things with my family all the time. This is what got me interested in the Engineering College. If I had the chance, I would invent a better way to fill insulin pumps. I would invent this because there are several family members in my family that have diabetes and it is complicated to make sure the bubbles are out of the insulin. Some of my hobbies outside of engineering are drawing and painting. If I could spend a week anywhere in the world, I would go to Spain.

HALEIGH
I am Haleigh, a senior at Scott High School. My fascination for the arts is what originally interested me in the design college at Ignite Institute. If I could design anything, I would design a line of clothing for students and staff in school that is sensory processing disorder friendly. There have often been times where articles of clothing or spirit wear have been too uncomfortable to wear for those who have sensory processing disorder. Growing up with a passion for the arts, I was naturally drawn to music. This passion is how I discovered one of my favorite hobbies, playing the cello. If I could spend a week anywhere in the world, I would choose New Zealand or Rome.

EMILY
Hello, my name is Emily and I am a senior at Ryle High School. I am a student at Ignite in the biomedical college. I am striving to become a forensic scientist. I grew up watching forensic TV shows with my aunt, but I never knew I could possibly contribute to what went on behind the scenes. I’ve known since childhood that I wanted a career where I could help people, which I always thought to be a doctor. After exploring my interests, I realized I could help people more indirectly. My other interests include many types of art, such as painting, science, reading, and history. Due to my history interest, I would love to spend a week in Europe to visit relics that I have read about.

CAMDEN
My name is Camden. My home high school is Simon Kenton High School, but I’m currently a Computer Science student at Ignite Institute. I joined Computer science because one day, I hoped to be a coder for some kind of game. Maybe work in their story boarding team, because I really prefer to write a lot, but I was also really into games. My favorite book series would probably be the Grisha Trilogy. My interest in reading is probably why my dream job would be an author. And while this internship doesn’t exactly correlate these main interests, I enjoy it because it allows me to work with machines and technology that I wouldn’t be able to
otherwise.

MakerSpace is a great opportunity for me to explore different areas of design, learn more about technology, and hopefully I could run a workshop to teach community members the basics of a digital camera.

Hi, I'm Andrew and I'm a senior at Conner High school. Technology has always been a big interest of mine and I enjoy learning and interacting with it. Being part of MakerSpace is giving me opportunities to use equipment that otherwise I would not be able to interact with such as 3D printers and Arduino.

PictureKian
Hello, my name is Kian and I go to Cooper High School. I've always been interested in computers and my main focus in high school has been to learn anything and everything I can about computers. I cannot wait to see what 3D printers can accomplish in the future. During my time at MakerSpace I will be able to learn about technology that I otherwise would not have been able to. I can't wait to be here for my senior year!

PictureAustin
Hey, my name is Austin and I attend Ryle High School. Computers, and anything technical, were always intriguing to me. I'm super excited to further my knowledge on 3D printers and robotics. I've always loved learning about them and NKY MakerSpace has given me that chance with a hands on experience.

PictureBraden
My name is Braden, I'm a senior at Conner and I enjoy cinematography. Bringing my thoughts to a lens for people to see intrigues me. I've always noticed my passion for film ever since I was young. I am now having the chance to forever improve my capabilities and get more connected with my passion.

PictureHunter
My name is Hunter and I'm a Senior at Conner.  Everyone has or needs an escape from reality, a passion if you will. Media happens to be my go-to and it can make me the happiest and feel the most accomplished. When I create something I know what I want and love how I can figure out how to execute it. I also know how I want the person to feel when they experience watching it. I plan on taking every element I indulge in at MakerSpace and applying to what I know best and ultimately taking those aspects to enhance my creative process. I am really excited to have an an opportunity to have an outlet to let my mind run loose with ideas.

PictureJake
Hello, I'm Jake, a senior from Conner High School!  I wondered into the vast realm of media as a child and never lost the spark that started it all.  I commit the majority of my time to video and audio production, while still stepping foot into the other subjects.  MakerSpace has provided me with the technology needed to achieve my lifelong goal.

PictureMadison R.

Hello everyone, nice to meet you! I'm Madison. I'm currently a senior at Conner High School and in the fall I plan to attend Morehead State University where I'll be studying Convergent Media. I've always loved being in front of and behind the camera and producing my own videos. I found my passion for media when I was a sophomore in an Introduction to Media class. Being an intern at Makerspace is such a great opportunity to learn things I didn't even know I could do.

PictureMitchell
Hey, I'm Mitchell and I'm a senior at Conner High School. I'm interested in video editing and audio production. The NKY Makerspace gives me an opportunity to work with video, audio, and several other areas that I'd never previously considered. My personal goals are to either develop a few different complete sound tracks or maybe to even record some ASMR videos.

PictureGabe
Hi everyone, I'm Gabe! I'm interested in audio and video production, as well as 3D printing and robotics. The NKY Makerspace gives me the opportunity to work with technology I would not have access to otherwise. I hope to be able to use the technology available here to help members of my community.
